If you're looking for the perfect sake to accompany a tapas-style meal with lots of varied dishes, look no further than something that will please everyone.
Immensely user-friendly, Kubota Ginjo Senjyu is made from pure Gohyakumangoku rice, a variety grown in Niigata and renowned for its pure flavor. Despite the immense cost and craftsmanship involved, 45-50% of the rice grains are gently polished, which is not far from the level one would expect for a Daiginjo (the highest level of sake refinement ). Light, crunchy and dry, it features melon, dried pineapple, candied fruit, banana, nutmeg, a light nutty taste and a touch of roasted asparagus. This versatile little bottle can be served slightly chilled at room temperature or even slightly warmed in a bain-marie but our preference is to serve it chilled with an appetizer then allow it to gradually warm throughout the meal as the evening progresses. .
Kubota is made in Asahi Shuzo in Niigata, a mountainous Japanese prefecture full of rivers and valleys and home to Mount Tanigawa. Firmly believing that “the quality of sake can never exceed the quality of its ingredients,” Asahi Brewery uses only the best raw materials. They work closely with local farmers to ensure access to the best rice for sake making and keep their secret production techniques closely guarded.
