Sauce for Teriyaki, KIKKOMAN

Teriyaki sauce is a sweet and savory sauce used to caramelize fish or grilled meat.

Ingredients: Soy sauce (Water, soybeans, wheat, salt), wine (contains sulfur dioxide), sugar, water, alcohol vinegar, salt, spice extract, onion powder, garlic powder.


"Teri" translates to "luster / shiny" and "yaki" to "grilled". As its name suggests, the teriyaki dish is composed of meats, fish, crustaceans or even tofu, grilled and caramelized with the sauce of the same name at the end of cooking.

Baking in the oven is very rare in Japan, most often the Japanese use the "Sakana Yaki-ami", a small grill which is placed on a gas stove in order to easily grill the fish.
