Imari ware, also known as Imari-yaki (伊万里焼), is a renowned type of Japanese porcelain produced in the Arita region of Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyūshū. The ware is named after the port of Imari, from where it was historically exported to Japan and the West, particularly Europe, as early as the 17th century.
Key Features:

Patterns: Imari ware is distinguished by its richly detailed, often hand-painted patterns. Traditional designs include flowers, birds, landscapes, and decorative elements inspired by nature, often arranged in a harmonious and symmetrical manner.
Color Palette: One of the most recognizable signatures of Imari ware is its vibrant color palette. Underglaze cobalt blue is predominant, complemented by shades of iron red, gold, and sometimes green or yellow. These colors are often applied to a base of glossy white porcelain. Technique: Made from fine porcelain, Imari is known for its durability and smooth finish. The firing technique often involves multiple high-temperature firings, which contribute to the strength and luster of the pieces.
